Merrymeeting Bay / Kennebec Estuary Research Program (Bowdoin)

Funding > Rusack Coastal Studies Project Initiative Fund

merrymeeting bay

This program is made possible through the generous gift of Geoffrey C. Rusack '78 and Alison Wrigley Rusack. The competitive fund is intended to promote and facilitate disciplinary and interdisciplinary projects that attract faculty from across the College to conduct research and creative work on questions, issues and concerns that relate to coastal peoples, cultures, environments and organisms. The fund supports projects that take place at the Coastal Studies Center and surrounding areas as well as coastal locals outside of Maine that draw comparisons to this region. The fund has approximately $20,000 available for 2006. Faculty are encouraged to submit proposals even if their projects (scholarly or artistic) are in the early stages of development. Collaborative proposals between faculty and staff are welcome. The fund is aimed at initiating work in the summer but projects taking place academic year will also be considered. Faculty from arts, humanities and social sciences are especially encouraged to apply.
