The Falcon

“It is a strange sight that the Falcon’s deck presents. Forward, on the starboard side, there are eight little burros, munching continuously at their hay… Just across the deck form the burros, are the two Ahngodoblaho dogs. One of them has already come to the conclusion that the burros are good to eat and makes frantic efforts to get at them… Passing down the companion-way, immediately in front is the door leading to the main cabin, and, entering this, a door is seen opening both to port and starboard from it. On the port side, the door leads to a series of three statehouses in line, with accommodations for eight of the party, and on the left the door leads to our own little stateroom, scarcely if any, larger than the one on the Kite, but somewhat more conveniently arranged.”- Robert E. Peary, Northward over the Great Ice, published in 1898
