now	general	one-who	state	's	safeguard

也	輔	周	則	國	必

強	輔	隙	則	國	必	弱

strong	safeguard	flaw	then	state	necessary	weak

夫將者國之輔也輔周則國必強輔隙則國必弱

Translation

Now the general is the safeguard of the state. If the safeguard is complete, the state is surely strong. If the safeguard is flawed, the state is surely weak.
