Translation

A state's impoverishment from its soldiers: When they are distant, there is distant transport. When they are distant and there is distant transport, the hundred clans are impoverished.

Annotations

Here we follow the more awkward reading of the Yinqueshan text, with its doubling of the phrase "yuanzhe yuanshu." We have relied on the Tongdian to clarify graphs that are illegible on the bamboo strip.
