The redesigned CS 101 course is highly interactive. Students solve problems individually or in groups, and the class discusses some different approaches taken in their solutions. The HP Tablet PCs and interactive teaching software allow instructors to obtain immediate feedback on student understanding via Tablet submission of in-class problems, and select student solutions to discuss that will best increase the understanding of all class members. During class, instructors use the tablets to annotate lecture slides, customizing the material. These slides are then posted online for student review.
