Cathance Watershed Project

The Cathance (pronounced kat'-antz) watershed in mid-coast Maine drains generally southward through the towns of Bowdoin and Topsham before joining the tidal waters of Merrymeeting Bay in Bowdoinham. The Cathance Watershed Project is a collaborative effort among the Cathance River Educational Alliance (CREA), Bowdoin College, Mount Ararat High School, and the Town of Topsham to collect basic water-quality data on this previously little-studied watershed.

Sampling is continuing in summer 2008 with the involvement of CREA intern Eric Berube and environmental-leadership students from local high schools.
