On April 29th, 2008, approximately 5 inches of water fell on Nequasset Watershed. By monitoring Nequasset Stream, particularly using a Campbell Scientific CR10X datalogger located below Hedge Bridge Road, we analyzed the effect of the storm event on the watershed. The datalogger utilized a Forest Technologies DTS-12 Digital Turbidity Meter as well as a Hydrolab Quanta sond, which measures depth, temperature, specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, and pH. Using this data, we deciphered the water quality patterns observed during the storm event. In addition, we used our data to find a runoff coefficient for the Nequasset Watershed.
Originally, we hoped to analyze multiple storm events; however this was the only major storm event that occurred during our research period. In addition, we originally planned to take water samples for analysis of bacteria, sediment concentration, and nutrients using an ISCO sampler. However, these samplers were washed downstream during the storm event.
